The scholarship rules:
1. General Information
LIESMARS sponsors the Star-lake Scholarship and Publication Award (STAR LAKE) for excellent master and doctoral international students registered in LIESMARS from 2015. The STAR LAKE includes the STAR LAKE Scholarship based on general performance, and STAR LAKE Publication Award for open publications.
The STAR LAKE is organized each year after the mid-term assessment, which is normally implemented around the end of October for 2nd year master and doctoral students. Each student is qualified as the candidate of the STAR LAKE scholarship once after the mid-term assessment, but is qualified as the candidate for STAR LAKE Publication Award for all his/her years of stay in LIESMARS.
The STAR LAKE will be delivered by the end of each year, but the certificate can be delivered at the new-year party of LIESMARS.
2. STAR-LAKE Categories
1) STAR-LAKE Scholarships for master students
The students will be ranked based on two criteria: 50% from GPA of completed courses; 50% from mid-term assessment grades.
2) STAR LAKE Scholarships for doctoral students
The students will be ranked based on two criteria: 30% from GPA of taken courses; 70% from mid-term assessment grades.
3) STAR LAKE Publication Awards
International masters/doctoral students are strongly encouraged to publish referred articles during their studies at LIESMARS. The article should be published on a journal after the enrollment. The first author of the paper should be the candidate or his/her supervisor in LIESMARS, with the candidate as the second. The first author’s institution should be signed as State Key Lab of Information Engineering in Surveying, Mapping and Remote Sensing (Wuhan University). The STAR LAKE Publication Awards is applied every October and each article can be only used once.
3. STAR-LAKE Criteria
1) Scholarships for master students
The top 20% students in the rankings will be awarded the 5-STAR LAKE Scholarship with certificates signed by the Director and 4,000 RMB each; the top 20-40% students in the rankings will be awarded the 4-STAR LAKE Scholarship with a certificate and 2,000RMB each.
2) Scholarships for doctoral students
The top 20% students in the rankings will be awarded the 5-STAR LAKE Scholarship with certificates signed by the Director and 4,000 RMB each; the top 20-40% students in the rankings will be awarded the 4-STAR LAKE Scholarship with a certificate and 2,000RMB each.
3) Publication Awards
An International LIESMARS masters/doctoral student who publishes a refereed article indexed by SCI/SSCI will be awarded the 5-STAR LAKE Publication Award with a certificate signed by the Director and 2,000RMB, and an International LIESMARS masters/doctoral student who publishes a refereed article indexed by EI will be awarded the 4-STAR LAKE Publication Award with a certificate signed by the Director and 1,000RMB
4. Other
1) LIESMARS reserves the right to explain, change and terminate the STAR LAKE without any pre-notice.
